I work with adults and young people aged 16+. My training and experience covers: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relational issues, loss & bereavement, long term & life limiting health conditions, neurodiversity & co-occurring mental health conditions, work place stress and life crisis. If your concern is not mentioned here, please get in touch to see if I can help.
My work as a Counsellor has been in private practice, low-cost services & in hospices. Before qualifying as a Counsellor, I have worked in education, the NHS, charitable organisations & the community settings with children, young people & adults. This has given me a in-depth experience of supporting a range of people including bereaved families, Autistic people, those with life limiting & mental health conditions, disabled people, long-term unemployed individuals, care leavers, asylum seeking minors, those with learning difficulties, sensory impairment, behavioural & emotional issues.
I am a Humanistic Counsellor, which simply means I believe you have the capacity to meet your own needs, develop and be personally fulfilled. My job is to give you the conditions for healing & growth which I believe to be; understanding, support, curiosity & encouragement. I am not here to judge you or tell you what to do rather to understand your challenges and strengthen your unique resources in order to get where you want to in life. My approach is Integrative because I draw on a variety of therapeutic skills and practices to suit you as an individual. This could mean a range of things such as using specific therapeutic tools to aid self-understanding, learning skills to self-regulate, trying creative exercises to get in touch with your feelings, or using a more solution-focused approach.

"Throughout my time working with Amy, she has tailored a safe space, through her patience, non-judgemental approach and kindness, especially when reflecting on times during early life. This safe space has made a real difference and enabled me to unpick difficult feelings, coming to terms with them in a healthier and more grounded way."
"I have never been a fan of the thought of sitting in front of a stranger to talk about things of a personal nature but Amy has been fantastic! She has been patient and understanding but not only that she has helped me to feel more confident about the way I think and feel about things, helping me to realise that my thoughts, feelings and things that I say are not just OK but are important. This has been a huge turning point for me, thank you Amy!''
"I've been doing sessions with Amy for two years and not only do I feel an improvement in my overall mental health but I also feel supported and have a greater understanding of myself. Her kind, encouraging and sensitive approach enables a comfortable and safe working environment to explore behaviours and feelings as well as the provision of day-to-day coping strategies. I would highly recommend her services and am grateful for all her help."
"I’ve been working with Amy for over a year now and have found our sessions together to be incredibly helpful. Amy is a supportive, empathetic and easy to talk to person, and together we’ve worked through difficulties in both my personal and professional life. Through her considered questions and observations, I’ve gained so much insight into my thought patterns and habits, helping me understand who I am and reframing past beliefs about myself. I feel like I’m gaining the clarity and compassion I need to make lasting changes in my life, thank you Amy!"
